Stoke boss Hughes happy for Butland after West Ham cleansheet

Stoke City and West Ham played out a 0-0 draw at the Brit on Saturday.

The Potters reached the 40-point mark but they had no joy in an attacking sense as Saido Berahino was denied a first goal for the club by Winston Reid's fine block and Adrian's terrific save.

Potters boss Mark Hughes was happy for Jack Butland after he kept a clean sheet on his return.

On his England prospects, Hughes said: "He enjoys the England set-up. But first things first. We are just two games into his return, so we have to be a little bit careful and we were caught out just prior to the season kicking off.

"I know Jack's focus is on being right for Stoke City, but his ambition is to be number one for England.

"I know Gareth (Southgate) was here and that was predominantly to see Jack. He will be as grateful as ourselves that he saw that performance today."
