Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is set to go into the new season with Asmir Begovic between the posts.

The People says he has talked with Begovic and the Bosnian has told Hughes he is not looking to leave Stoke.

Begovic was linked with a move to Liverpool, but ­Simon Mignolet has now agreed a £9m move to ­Anfield from Sunderland.

An extraordinary offer around £15m may change the scenario, but the ­indications are that Begovic will stay and that will ­enable new signing Jack Butland from Birmingham to learn his trade at a ­Premier League club.
