Stoke City boss Mark Hughes expects big things from Kevin Wimmer.
Wimmer joined shortly before deadline for a near club record £18m after just 15 appearances in his two years at Tottenham, but that didn't deter Hughes from handing him an instant debut against United.
“He hadn't had 90 minutes for a long time in the Premier League, so I was more than happy with what he produced," Hughes said.
“We're more than happy with what we're seeing in training on a daily basis as well, so I think he's really encouraged by what he's seeing and what we do on that daily basis.
“So I think he's really enjoying his work at the moment and in terms of repetition and playing week in, week out, we hope he gets that and will improve.
“He's still only a young man. He's 24, so he's got a lot of development to come. It looks really encouraging and I was really pleased for him."
