Stoke City boss Mark Hughes was delighted with Jack Butland's performance in defeat at Crystal Palace.
There was little for Stoke to cheer about apart from a series of fine saves from Butland.
Hughes said: "Jack's a good keeper. Everyone has been aware of him for a long time, but he needed to get experience of this level.
"He's shown in a couple of games he has played that he has good ability. I thought he was our stand-out player in terms of having a confident and assured performance.
"That will do him no end of good. I was pleased with him. But we needed more performances out of the other guys as well."
