Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has revealed he'll hold contract talks with Peter Crouch today.

Crouch, 36, is due to be out of contract this summer but boss Mark Hughes is keen to extend his stay at the bet365 stadium.

“It's more than likely we will offer him a new deal very soon," said Hughes ahead of tomorrow's trip to Crystal Palace.

“There have been indications that that will happen. I will probably speak to him today about it actually."

Crouch is one goal away from becoming Stoke's outright record scorer in the Premier League. He is currently level with Jonathan Walters on 43.

Hughes added: “It's a record he will break. He's an exceptional player and a great guy.

“People concentrate too much on his age in terms of where he is in his career.

“Credit to him for playing at the level he is. He's of the view that he has another two or three years at this level and I don't disagree."
