Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is delighted with the form of Marko Arnautovic.
Hughes stumped up £2m to take the maverick from Werder Bremen after a hunch he could work with the man with the wild reputation.
He said: "It's always a risk. Every player is a risk. You can't say signing any player is without an element of that.
"I had the opportunity to go out and meet Marko. I sat down with him and I liked the guy.
"You have to manage Marko but you have to manage lots of players in different ways."
He added: "He likes a little bit of attention but that's fine. All the guys here love him.
"I could see he wasn't happy in his situation. Maybe the rigidity of German football wasn't quite going with Marko so he just needed a place where he could feel a little bit more freedom and I think we've been perfect for him."
