Stoke City boss Mark Hughes blasted ref Mike Dean after defeat at Sunderland.
Stoke lost 2-0, with skipper Ryan Shawcross seeing red.
"I thought the ref should have used common sense," Hughes griped afterwards when asked about the Shawcross dismissal.
"The ref should have given him the benefit of the doubt. He made the decision with the help of his assistant on that side of the field. So we were down to 10 men and I didn't think Sunderland caused us too many problems.
"They needed another break and they got it because the ref got the decision on the free-kick totally wrong.
"The lad Johnson dived to jump out of a non tackle.
"And he booked Erik Pieters as well. He got that totally wrong.
"It was some strike to beat Jack (Butland) from 30-yards, so give the lad (Patrick van Aanholt) some credit."
