Stoke City boss Mark Hughes admits Saido Berahino could start against Tottenham.

The manager admits that, for the first time, Berahino is in contention to be in the line-up from the off since joining from West Brom last month.

Hughes said: "He's looking really sharp and he's not a million miles away. If it's not this weekend then he's very close to it.

"We're really pleased with what he's producing. He's done extra work, normally just finishing work and bits in and around the box just for sharpness really because obviously if you haven't played for too long it's your timing and strikers like to hear the ball hit the back of the net. He's taking any opportunity to do that during training and extra as well.

"He's doing really well. I know he's itching to start and he's not far away."
