Stoke City boss Tony Pulis was delighted with the goal scoring debut of on-loan Manchester United defender Ryan Shawcross in their victory over Cardiff.

"Ryan took his goal with aplomb and I think he was surprised as anyone to see it go in," Potters boss Pulis told Stoke City World.

"For the penalty he got caught out on the wrong side of the defender and he looked tired as the game wore on.

"He is still young but has great potential and we need to make sure we look after him."
