Stoke City ace Xherdan Shaqiri insists last night's goal for Switzerland was no surprise to him.

Shaqiri scored an acrobatic bicycle kick from the edge of the area to force extra time in his country's last-16 tie.

However, he was powerless to prevent Switzerland going out after Poland won the match in the first penalty shootout of the tournament.

When asked about 'the best goal' of his career, Shaqiri quipped: "You don't know me very well, obviously. I always score nice goals!

"This goal pushed the team more, so it was an important goal for me. It was beautiful. But in the end I am disappointed.

"As always I'm proud to score for my country and my team."
