Stoke ace N'Zonzi holds France hopes

Stoke City midfielder Steven N'Zonzi is hopeful of earning a call up to the French national team in the foreseeable future.

N'Zonzi has been one of the integral members of Mark Hughes' Potters side this season and his fine form has led to the 26-year old being labeled as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

As a result of his displays, Hughes has made a claim that N'Zonzi is good enough to earn a call up to Didier Deschamps' France squad.

Following his manager's backing, the midfielder himself has now also expressed his desire to earn international recognition and added that he is working very hard to receive the call from Les Bleus.

N'Zonzi told the Stoke Sentinel: "I'm French so of course I would like to play for France. Let's see. I will keep working hard. If it's going to come it will come. It's no problem.

"I haven't heard anything. I don't know if they're looking at me. But I'm playing in the Premier League, the best league in the world.

"They have many quality players in my position and every position. I don't know if I'm close, but I'll just keep doing my work and we'll see."
