Stoke City ace Charlie Adam isn't surprised by John Stones' transfer demand at Everton.

Adam says the prospect of moving to Chelsea was always going to force Stones into action.

“It was inevitable, if he wants it to happen, it's the next stage," said Adam on talkSPORT.

“He's played 50 games for Everton but you don't get Chelsea coming to your door very often. He wants to play at the top level and in the Champions League.

“Everton's a good club, with great fans and Bill [Kenwright] has done a great job, but it's an impossible job not to turn Chelsea down.

“When Chelsea come for him again, it'll probably happen within the next week."
