Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam is convinced Ibrahim Afellay will cut it at Premier League level.

Afellay joined Stoke last month on a free transfer from Barcelona.

"You see the qualities that Afellay has," Adam said. "If you cannot, of course you do not play for Barcelona for nothing.

"He keeps the ball and is also strong in possession. He is now only a few weeks with us and not really up to speed.

"Once he hits his stride and everyone here knows each other, we will really be a solid team."
