Stockport County's future is still undecided after the 2015 Group's takeover bid stalled for a second time. The consortium - fronted by former chief executive Sean Connolly - had hoped to be installed as County's new owners last week, but a delay at the Football League prevented the final paperwork from being signed.
"It is mightily frustrating for all concerned, but the Football League were not able to sign off the transfer last week, purely due to the fact that key personnel are out of the UK until late this week," a spokesman for the 2015 Group told the Stockport Express.
"It isn't just a case of signing a piece of paper by fax, email or courier, although we wish it was.
"It is the actual share transfer. After the past 14 months it feels like another kick in the teeth and it is, but it's only a delay, nothing more."
