Former Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder Didi Hamann is in line for his first managerial job.
The Mirror says Hamann is being lined up for a shock move into management with Stockport - as part of a Liverpool-based investment group's plans.
Liverpool FC hero Hamann, is currently a coach under Sven Goran Eriksson at big-spending Championship side Leicester, but may be tempted by the challenge of leading County back into the Football League following last season's relegation.
County are in talks with a team of investors from Merseyside and they would bring in German veteran Hamann to work with Ray Mathias stepping down to assistant.
