Stockport County boss Ian Bogie has confirmed striker Danny Whitehead is set to sign for West Ham United.

Whitehead has impressed West Ham enough to be handed a permanent deal following a trial.

"We're awaiting an announcement on that in the next couple of days," Bogie admitted to the Manchester Evening News.

"He did put in a transfer request though and I don't want people who don't want to stay at the club.

"He decided his future lay elsewhere, went there for a trial and they were impressed enough to offer him a deal."
