Liverpool academy boss John Owens admits they're disappointed to have lost defender Scott Wootton to Manchester United earlier this year.

In his diary for liverpoolfc.tv, Owens said ahead of this weekend's clash: "United have had a decent start although they are never preoccupied with results. It's all about getting individuals through to the first-team squad, just like us.

"There'll be extra spice to the game too, as they will have Scott Wootton in their ranks, a player who was with us up until early this year.

"He's now moved there, so it'll be interesting to see how he's progressing. It'll certainly be a challenge but that's what we need right now."
