Still a week before Bristol City make decision on new manager

According to chairman Colin Sexstone, it could be next week before Bristol City appoint a new manager. After an influx of applications and a week of deliberation, Sexstone and his board have spoken to five candidates individually, but that shortlist has yet to be whittled down to the final two from whom the club's new boss will be chosen.

"It could well be (next week before an appointment is made)," the City chairman told BBC Radio Bristol. "But it's not through any slackness on our behalf. We are working flat out and we want to make sure we get this as right as we possibly can."

Sexstone added: "We are going in with a completely open mind and we want a man who is going to be successful. You look at their whole psyche to see their experience, their energy and their knowledge."

Former Rotherham boss Mark Robins and ex-Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll are among the favourites for the post, along with St Johnstone chief Derek McInnes.
