Marcus Stewart is backing his former Preston teammate David Nugent for success at Portsmouth.

Stewart, now with Yeovil Town, said: "I played with David at Preston for four months and I think he's got every attribute to be an England international - and regularly.

"He's quick, strong, direct, skilful, is a good finisher. Obviously now the next step for him is the Premier League.

"It's all about how quickly he adapts to it - and of course having so many quality players around him will help.

"Portsmouth were very comfortable on the ball, like you expect from the Premier League.

"They are all athletes and I'm sure he will fit in perfectly.

"Now it's up to him and the management of Portsmouth to bring it out and I don't even think the price tag will affect him."
