Steven Berghuis isn't panicking after a slow start to his Watford career.

The former AZ Alkmaar winger was left out of the Watford squad for Saturday's defeat to Manchester City.

Berghuis was back in Holland yesterday to see AZ take on Roda JC.

He told RTV Noord-Holland: "I need to get used to the intensity of English football.

"Against Manchester City I was just left out. That's unfortunate for me, but it's just about getting used to things.

"They took me for a lot of money, and they will not have done so (if they did not rate me).

"It's not funny. I'm just trying to take the next step."
