Steve de Ridder has cancelled his contract at Southampton by mutual consent.

De Ridder found opportunities limited upon the club's return to the top flight and, having spent time on loan with Bolton last season, has penned a three-year deal at FC Utrecht.

"I look forward to my Eredivisie comeback," De Ridder told the club's official website.

"FC Utrecht is a nice club, with an avid and passionate supporters.

"The people here let me prove very keen to take to strengthen the team. I hope to be of great value for FC Utrecht. Here I am going to do my best."
