Steve Cherundolo has made a successful playing return for Hannover 96.

The USA fullback had not played since July and scored in their 16-1 exhibition friendly against TSV Barsinghausen.

"He is very important for the team as captain," Hannover assistant coach Nestor El Maestro told the club website. "He has come through the game well and gave a solid performance."
