Sterling has stalled Liverpool negotiations until summer

Raheem Sterling has revealed that his talks with Liverpool regarding a new deal have been put on hold.

There have been a mountain of stories in the press regarding the Anfield future of the 20-year old winger in recent times with stories suggesting he is holding out for an improved contract of more than £100,000-a-week.

Sterling, who is under contract on Merseyside until the summer of 2017, has reportedly turned down an upgraded proposal from the Reds but he has indicated that nothing of the like has occurred and he is simply waiting until the season is over to negotiate further.

"I just want to focus on football and, when it gets to the end of the season, assess my position as a 20-year-old player playing in the Premier League," he told BBC Sport.

"I keep hearing I've rejected all sorts of contracts. Me, the club and my reps have spoken about it and put talks on hold until the end of the season, so it's frustrating to hear the contract situation keep going on and on.

"I don't want to be perceived as a money-grabbing 20-year-old. I just want to be seen as a kid that loves to play football."
