Steaua Bucharest GM Mihai Stoica admits Tottenham had a bid for Vlad Chiriches turned down by the club's owner.

The Romania international defender has been linked with Spurs in recent weeks.

And Stoica confirmed: "There was an offer from the English club for €8 million, the highest in the history of Romanian football.

"But president Gigi Becali has blocked the sale."
