Villa boss Martin O'Neill is keen to find someone to replace Olof Mellberg, who has quit for Juventus.
Goian, 27, featured for Romania in Euro 2008 and has hinted at wanting to leave Steaua Bucharest, with Lazio and Real Betis also interested.
