Steve Staunton has parted company with Sunderland.
The Daily Mail says he had been recruited as the Black Cats' match assessor but has now been asked to quit the club.
The former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender had been recruited as part of former manager Steve Bruce's staff - a role that continued under Martin O'Neill.
