Steve Staunton is being linked with a return to Aston Villa.
The Daily Star says Gerard Houllier is set to be unveiled as the head of a new Aston Villa boot room - as part of a major gamble by Randy Lerner.
Villa's American owner is planning a new three-man strategy with the 62-year-old Frenchman prepared to take on the role of Director of Football. Houllier will head up the operation to assist new head coach Kevin MacDonald and Steve Staunton, who will be assistant coach.
