Staunton a fan of Sunderland's Miller

Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton believes Liam Miller can fulfill his potential at Sunderland.

He said: "I've always liked Liam. He was in my first squad, but at this moment in time he has not fulfilled his potential.

"He did okay at Manchester United when he was given a chance, and he has got back into the Sunderland side the last couple of games.

"He did well Sunday, but prior to that - according to reports - he was getting back into the swing of things.

"It's going to take a while for him, but we need him playing regularly.

"He is at a good age, and the more games he plays for Sunderland then the better for everyone."
