Standard Chartered have entered the Kenny Dalglish debate - urging Liverpool's owners to hand the manager a long-term deal.
Gavin Laws, who has a lead role in the record £20million-a-year deal with Liverpool as head of corporate affairs for Standard Chartered, strongly endorsed calls for Dalglish to be given a long-term contract.
He said Dalglish's presence at the initial meeting between bank and club had been crucial in Standard Chartered's decision.
He told the Daily Mail: "Some clubs we talked to just regarded us as a cheque book, so it was hugely important for us that Liverpool showed their intent by bringing along an inspirational guy like Kenny."
