St Mirren blow as McGregor sidelined for nine months

St Mirren have revealed defender Darren McGregor will be out for up to nine months with a knee injury. The 25 year old suffered suspected cruciate ligament damage during the 1-1 draw with Dundee United on Saturday.

Saints boss Danny Lennon told STV: "We expect Darren to be out for six to nine months.

"He is a big player for us and he will be a great loss to St Mirren.

"But he is a player who has great mental strength and I know he will work twice as hard to make it back.

"He is a player with a big future in the game and we hope he makes a full recovery as soon as possible."
