St Johnstone vow to recoil from heart-breaking Europa League loss

St Johnstone forward Steve MacLean is confident the club will bounce back from the devastating Europa League loss to FC Minsk.

The Saints led 1-0 in the third round tie following the away leg last week but conceded to Milos Rnic in the 75th minute which sent the match to extra-time.

Unfortunately for MacLean and his teammates, the Scottish club were beaten 3-2 in a penalty shootout, ending their time in Europe's second tier competition.

MacLean, who had a penalty saved, said the Saints players would bounce back: "I tried to go for power but the keeper has guessed right. That's football. It's easy when everything is going well.

"But this is what it's all about now. When things go wrong, it's the real players who come out fighting. We've got guys in there who will come out fighting and I'm sure we will.

"We're all gutted in there. They were a stuffy team to play against. They just sat with everybody behind the ball. They didn't show any ambition."

St Johnstone return to Scottish Premier League action with a trip to Kilmarnock on Sunday.
