St Johnstone's Wright urges Peterborough, Blackpool target May to remain

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright believes Stevie May can become the clubs goal hero if he stays put.

The 20-year old striker is being heavily linked with a summer shift to Peterborough United, whilst Blackpool are also showing interest, but Wright has urged him to remain at McDiarmid Park.

"I want Stevie to stay here and I've told him I think the best thing for him would be to spend more time here with us," he said.

"He's come into our team, he's playing regularly and he's doing well at the moment.

"He'll get no better education than playing with St Johnstone, racking up the minutes and learning from guys like Stevie MacLean.

"No disrespect to Peterborough, if he keeps playing here and scores 20 goals this season - which he's capable of - then he might get a bigger club looking at him.

"I'm realistic enough to know that if the valuation the chairman has is met then Stevie will go."
