St Johnstone's Lomas 'can't wait' for Rangers clash

Steve Lomas says he cannot wait for his Scottish Premier League managerial debut for St Johnstone this weekend.

The former West Ham United, Manchester City and QPR midfielder took the reins at McDiarmid Park earlier this month and will guide the Saints to Ibrox to take on reigning champions Rangers on Saturday and despite the enormity of the task in front of him, Lomas can't wait.

"I can't wait for Saturday. I'm loving the whole idea of it," he said.

"Rangers are champions, they are on a great run and they have great players like Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty, Carlos Bocanegra and Nikica Jelavic.

"Listen, I'm well aware any team can go to a place like Ibrox and take a beating. That we'll have to be at our maximum.

"But we'll relish it. As a player you have to, you put the boots on hoping the day will come when you play against the best teams at the best grounds.

"And I'm no different now as a manager hoping to do well.

"To have Ibrox as a venue for my first game as a full-time manager is something special."
