St Johnstone secured the Irn-Bru First Division title and promotion to the Scottish Premier League after coming from behind to beat Morton 3-1. Afterwards, jubilant Saints boss Derek McInnes, said: "The time for reflection will come later.
"I'm pleased for so many people right now but especially the supporters and players - we've suffered more than most over the last few seasons.
"We've beaten a 125-year club record (by going unbeaten for 22 league games), led the league since October and shown great consistency.
"The players haven't been given the credit they deserve and they deserve that success today.
"We've overcome so many hurdles this season, even with the early penalty today.
"In the second half the players were absolutely magnificent and showed they were worthy champions.
"For us to show the consistency we have is a huge credit to all the players.
"At the start of the season I felt too many players should be playing in the SPL and urged them to do their best they can to get this club back there.
"I feel like I have a squad of SPL players and the challenge now is to prove we are as good a side as I think we are."
