St Johnstone place £300k price tag on Rangers target Sandaza

Rangers are believed to be in hot pursuit of St Johnstone striker Francisco Sandaza.

The reigning Scottish champions are in the market for a goalscorer this winter and the Spaniard, who joined the Saints from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, is at the top of their list which was confirmed by 'Gers boss Ally McCoist.

"I'll have a chat with (owner) Crai (Whyte) and see where we are regarding Sandaza. He's one of a number of forwards we're really interested in," he said.

St Johnstone chairman Steve Brown says that Sandaza will cost Rangers at least £300,000 but made it clear he does not want to lose the 27-year old.

"I understand Rangers have spoken to Fran but there's no agreement and we don't want to lose him," he said.

"His goals could be the difference between the top and bottom six. We also hope for another Cup run, so £300,000 would be the starting point."
