Rangers are believed to be in hot pursuit of St Johnstone striker Francisco Sandaza.
The reigning Scottish champions are in the market for a goalscorer this winter and the Spaniard, who joined the Saints from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, is at the top of their list which was confirmed by 'Gers boss Ally McCoist.
"I'll have a chat with (owner) Crai (Whyte) and see where we are regarding Sandaza. He's one of a number of forwards we're really interested in," he said.
St Johnstone chairman Steve Brown says that Sandaza will cost Rangers at least £300,000 but made it clear he does not want to lose the 27-year old.
"His goals could be the difference between the top and bottom six. We also hope for another Cup run, so £300,000 would be the starting point.""I understand Rangers have spoken to Fran but there's no agreement and we don't want to lose him," he said.
