St Johnstone boss McInnes linked with West Brom job

St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes is in line for the vacant managerial position at Premier League club West Bromwich Albion.

The 39-year old former Greenock Morton, Rangers, Baggies and Saints midfielder has been at the helm at McDiarmid Park since 2007 but may be on his way to England's West Midlands according to recent reports.

West Brom sacked Roberto Di Matteo on Sunday after dropping to 17th on the league table and immediately there have been a host of names linked with the position, currently filled by caretaker Michael Appleton.

Former Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has already pulled himself out of the race whilst ex-Newcastle United gaffer Chris Hughton has emerged as a candidate.

But McInnes, a former West Brom player, is also in contention after his recent work with St Johnstone, who he has lifted back into the Scottish Premier League and currently has them sitting seventh in the league this term.
