St Etienne made a move for Everton winger Yannick Bolasie before last week's transfer deadline.

Bolasie moved to Aston Villa on a season-long loan.

But not before St Etienne made an attempt to bring the midfielder to France for the campaign.

L'Equipe says ASSE sounded out Bolasie and he was interested in the proposal, but ultimately he wanted to remain in England.

Bolasie did not feature in Villa's 4-1 thrashing at Sheffield United yesterday.
