Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek says Mehdi Abeid is a different person since his loan spell with Panathinaikos.
Srnicek wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "You can tell the players who have gone away and flourished and Mehdi Abeid is one of them.
"He now carries himself as a player Alan Pardew can rely on to bolster his squad.
"His injury has come at a very unfortunate time, especially as he is on a good run of form - but that is something he will overcome.
"Hopefully, it does not keep him out for too long and the manager can turn to him once more."
