A buyout clause is proving the stumbling in Blackburn Rovers' attempts to secure Junior Hoilett to a new contract.
The Daily Mail says Blackburn face a battle to keep Hoilett after making little progress in contract talks with the Canadian.
Representatives of the winger, who will be a free agent next summer, are reluctant to accept a release clause similar to the £16.5m figure inserted in Phil Jones's contract.
Tottenham are monitoring the situation.
