Spurs to go for Europa League after coming through rough patch

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is aiming to turnaround his side's fortunes at Wembley and go on to clinch the Europa League this season.

The North London club defeated CSKA Moscow 3-1 in their final Champions League fixture on Wednesday night to register their first home win of the season in Europe.

The victory also ensured their progress to the last-32 in the Europa League - a competition Pochettino believes they are capable of winning following a tough run which included injuries to a lot of key players.

Following the win, he said: "It was a key moment, with Harry Kane out and many other players, it was difficult to rotate, difficult to be consistent.

"But now we need to move ahead, we have the opportunity to play more here, and that's important to make Wembley our home.

"The Europa League is a good competition to go far. We believe we can win that competition and in the Premier League we can go far, near the top."
