Tottenham have explored the prospect of luring Javier Mascherano away from Liverpool, it has been revealed.

The News of the World says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has money to burn. Levy was even keen to lure Mascherano to White Hart Lane and match the £17m Liverpool will finally pay to keep the Argentinian following their £350m financial repackaging until interest from Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City put him off.
