Spurs to smash transfer record for Sevilla's Daniel Alves

Tottenham are ready to smash their transfer record for Sevilla fullback Daniel Alves.

Spurs manager Juande Ramos is well of the 24-year-old's talents having worked with him at the Spanish club, and the News of the World says he is prepared to reform their relationship.

Alves said: "I want to improve as a player and if that means that I have to leave Sevilla then so be it."

Ramos could face stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea to sign the Brazilian international, which could see his fee potentially reach in the region of £25million.

That would dwarf the Spurs' previous transfer record, which was the £16.5million they paid Charlton last summer for Darren Bent.
