Villarreal president Fernando Roig says Riquelme is up for sale after he returned from a six-month loan at Boca Juniors last week.

Atletico Madrid have been in extended talks with Riquelme's agents about a three-year contract, however Spurs have also made their interest known in recent days.

The News of the World says Spurs are willing to offer £10.5 million for Riquelme as manager Martin Jol seeks too add a creative spark to his industrious midfield.
