Arsenal are competing with Tottenham for Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep.
Le10Sport says the Gunners have begun negotiations over a £8.5m deal for the Cameroon-born product.
However, the Gunners will face competition from Tottenham, where football chief Franco Baldini is also keen on the France U21 international.
Should Ntep make the move to the Emirates he would be following in the footsteps of French Under-21 teammate Yaya Sanogo who joined Arsenal from Auxerre at the start of the season.
