Spurs No2 Poyet delighted to see Pavlyuchenko score

Tottenham assistant boss Gus Poyet was happy to see Roman Pavlyuchenko score in last night's Carling Cup victory at Newcastle United.

Poyet, who again insisted he is committed to Spurs after being linked with the managerial vacancy at St James' Park, hailed Pavlyuchenko's contribution.

"He had the chance, he scored; I'm sure he's going to get better and better," the Uruguayan said.

"We're getting there. It was very important to win tonight," he added.
