Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is chasing Chelsea fullback Ryan Bertrand.
The People says Pochettino could pile more pain on former club Southampton by signing Bertrand - one of their top targets.
Pochettino had previously lined up the Chelsea left-back for a move to the south coast as a replacement for Luke Shaw, who is set to leave in a big-money deal for Manchester United.
The signing of Bertrand is a transfer Saints officials have remained keen on since losing Pochettino - but they now face the disappointment of being gazumped by the new Tottenham boss.
