Spurs midfielder Carroll happy with QPR experience

Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll is happy with his loan switch to QPR.

Big things are expected of Carroll and he was one of a select few in the Under 21 squad to be invited by Roy Hodgson to train with the senior team at St George's Park earlier this week. He and the rest of the group are eager to prove that England does have talent.

"It's been good," said Carroll. "We have all enjoyed working with (Southgate) and we are trying to get good performances in as well as winning.

"England youth teams are getting a battering at the minute, but we are out to prove a point by playing well as well as getting results.

"I saw (Hodgson) had said some nice words, which are always nice to hear. Hopefully I will do well in this and for my club and impress even more. I really enjoyed his session. He is very tactical but if I got to work with him more often I would really enjoy it.

"Hopefully this will be a good year for me. It is about game time. That is my aim.

"I could have sat on the bench at Spurs but I need to be playing more where I am in my career and hopefully this will help. Harry Redknapp wants to get promotion and I want to do my best to help."
