Spurs management delighted with Modric, Giovani returns

Tottenham management were delighted with the playing return of Luka Modric and Giovani dos Santos for yesterday's friendly win over Grays Athletic.

Modric played 70 minutes on his return from a fractured fibula, while Giovani scored twice as he returned from an ankle injury.

Development coach Clive Allen told the Spurs website: "It was important for Luka as it was a number of the first-team squad to play and a couple of the younger players in and around the first team squad.

"We started slowly and made it difficult for ourselves initially but once we got ourselves going some of the football we played was excellent.

"We ended up with the right sort of performance and result.

"It was great for Gio to score twice. He was unfortunate to pick up the injury when he did against Preston in the Carling Cup as he was looking very sharp at that point, but he's worked hard to get himself back and he looked sharp, bright and took his goals well."
