Tottenham are in talks with Barcelona to sign Andre Gomes in January.

Gomes is ready to leave Barca after finding himself falling further down the midfield pecking order following the arrival of Paulinho last month.

Diario Gol says Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is driving the deal, convinced he can help the Portugal international rediscover his best form.

Spurs have already made two proposals to Barca - either a straight cash deal worth €22m or a loan arrangement with the view to a permanent signing in June.

Barca are willing to do business and prefer the second option. The belief is an impressive six months with Spurs and a successful World Cup will drive up Gomes' value.
