Spurs legend Waddle hails Arsenal midfielder Ozil: Don't judge him on tackling!

Tottenham hero Chris Waddle has defended Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners meet Spurs tomorrow in their second meeting this season.

Waddle told the Daily Mail: "Ozil doesn't perform and he gets hammered.

"People say he's lazy, he's not interested. But what he does is the hardest part of football. What he does is create, he opens the door. That's why he cost so much, that's why his team-mates want him in the team.

"It was the same with Dimitar Berbatov, Matt Le Tissier, Glenn Hoddle; I had it. We never get the best of our flair players in this country. I like Ozil, and always have.

"Anyone can organise and compete, stop others playing, block areas off and strangle supply. Judge Ozil on what he was signed to do. If he's making goals, he's playing very well."
